Bank & Gladstone

The old Metropolitan Bible Church has long been absorbed into residential development by Urban Capital. I really wish they could have preserved a useable entrance in that old building instead of enlisting another member of facadism. Looking south on Bank the street kinks slightly and this building is always nicely framed in view and the glass balconies always pick up a nice reflection at dusk.

Three years ago I took a crack at this site in my 3.5 x 5.5” watercolour sketchbook where I finally pushed through a wall of hesitation in experimenting with bolder colour. Everything up to that was muddy and shy, but finally found something that speaks to me with this little doodle. Again, with those glassy balcony reflections!
